It receives its name from the torpedo boats that were lodged there in 1887 , of which two used to be anchored in the bay of Valparaíso in active service until 1895 . 1

Torpederas
In 1885 , a shed was built to shelter the simple torpedo boats of the Chilean Navy , which had been used in the War of the Pacific , in 1879 , during the blockade of Callao . These constructions were used until 1895, when they were dismantled.
