Admiralty-Office, Nov. 2, 1782. Vice-admiral Campbell, Commander in Chief of his Majesty's ships and vessels at Newfoundland, has transmitted to Mr. Stephens, in his letter of the 23d of September last, a list of prizes taken by the squadron under his command, of which the following is a copy :
May 20, 1782. Ship Viper, a privateer, 14 guns, 52 men, by the Leocadia.
June 28, schooner Penguin, a privateer, seven guns, 27 men, by the Placentia brig.
June 29, brig Lexington, a privateer, 13 guns, 48 men, by the Leocadia.
August 11, schooner Lord Sterling, a privateer, eight guns, 29 men, by the Placentia brig.
August 18, ship Junius Brutus, a privateer, 18 guns, 80 men, by the Leocadia, Merlin, and Cygnet.
Aug. 20, ship Thorn, late his Majesty's stoop of that name, 18 guns, 71 men, laden with io.ooolbs. of indiga, and eight hogsheads of tobacco, by the Arethusa.

The prize brig Prince Edward of 160 tons, armed with 16 four-pounders, and the little Hope reached Beverly in safety and the former was sold at auction. She proved to be the privateer
Wilkes, late of Gloucester, which had been taken by the English and renamed Prince Edward. That same summer the Hope was party to a less creditable action, the attack on the town of Lunenburg.
Names, 'tSc. of pips and ffjsels taken by his Maje/lj's fquadron under the command of Rear - Admiral Edwards, at Newfoundland.

Brig "
Wilkes." — This vessel was built by David Pearce; and, after making a mercantile voyage to the West Indies, m fitted out as a privateer, under command of Job Knights. She was taken, and carried into Newfoundland; but was afterwircretaken by some men belonging to Marblehead, and brought back to Gloucester. Capt. Pearce purchased her, and sent her oa: again, under command of John Beach. She was taken on this voyage, off the West Indies.
