18. Januar 1871 in den Bauhafen der Kaiserlichen Werft in Wilhelmshaven eingelaufene Geschwader. Im Vordergrund ist das Dock I erkennbar. An der Pier rechts liegt die Panzerfregatte KÖNIG WILHELM, davor die Panzerfregatten FRIEDRICH CARL und KRONPRINZ. Ganz hinten ist die Glattdeckskorvette AUGUSTA erkennbar.

Naples: Santa Lucia with a View of the Gulf and Mount Vesuvius, ca. 1860 – 1870

An historic moment for the Italian Navy - King Vittorio Emanuele´s arrival in Naples, 7 November 1860. The ships dressed overall are GARIBALDI ( ex-Neapolitan ) on the far left and the Piedmont-Sardinian ships CARLO ALBERTO ( next right ), CONSTITUZIONE ( foreground ) and GOVERNOLO ( betond CONSTITIZIONE´s bow ). The line of battle ships in the right background is HMS HANNIBAL, flagship of Sir George Mundy ; she is not dressed overall because at that time Great Britain still recognised francesco II as King of Naples. However the US frigate IROQUOIS ( not visible in this photo ) was dressed overall.
